Due to federal budgetary cutbacks in 2011, the total number of Medicare sessions available per calendar year via a GP Mental Health Care Plan are now 10 (previously it was capped at 18). Social workers and psychologists continue to lobby for these changes to be overturned.

Trudy has vast experience spanning over 16 years. Trudy is an approved Medicare provider of Focussed Psychological Strategies under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme and is one of only a few accredited professional supervisors of NLP.
Trudy is a warm, caring professional who is respected for her authentic approach, skill, flexibility and commitment to assisting her clients to achieve their desired outcomes and goals.
All sessions with Trudy are designed to motivate, inspire and empower clients. Trudy specialises in counselling and therapy, utilising a range of approaches including solution focussed and strengths based models, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and mindfulness based approaches.
In her career, Trudy has worked as a counsellor, therapist and social worker in areas such as crisis intervention and suicide prevention, sexual assault counselling (child and adult) as well as generalist mental health and counselling. Trudy has complemented her work over the years with a range of volunteer work including working with the homeless, telephone counselling and in being an Executive Board member of the Australian Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Kathy has worked for many years providing counselling and therapy to children, young people and adults on a range of emotional problems and experiences of trauma.
Kathy is committed to exploring peoples’ strengths and resilience in overcoming the issues or difficulties they are experiencing. She enjoys the privilege of helping people to explore ways of rebuilding and improving their lives and relationships.
Kathy has worked as a counsellor, manager, supervisor and trainer in the areas of child protection, individual work and family therapy. She uses a range of therapies including solution focussed and narrative approaches as well as CBT and psycho-education.
For many years, Kathy was Treasurer and then President of the NSW Association for Adolescent Health (now NAYH) as one way of demonstrating her commitment to improving young peoples’ lives. |

Sonja Plecas is a consultant psychologist with over 12 years of clinical experience in providing psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. She is registered with the NSW Psychologists Registration Board, and an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
Sonja has specialist skills in Systemic Therapy for individuals, couples and families and extensive clinical experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and other psychotherapeutic models. Sonja has particular interest in hypnotherapy and mindfulness practice and working with adolescents and their parents.

Tania is a clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience.Tania holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of St Petersburg (Russia). She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and the College of Clinical Psychology of the APS. She provides professional supervision to Clinical Psychologists. Over the years she has worked with a wide range of clients both in Australia and overseas. In the last 15 years Tania developed a strong interest and commitment to Buddhist philosophy and psychology. Her own meditation practice informs and directs her psychological approach. At present she is specialising in mindfulness based psychotherapy including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Lucia possesses extensive clinical training and experience working with adults include anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder, depression, bereavement, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, weight-management due to binge eating or overeating behaviours, PTSD, relationship breakdown, interpersonal difficulties, family breakdown and co-occurring anxiety and depression.
Lucia also has experience in the areas of: pre- and postnatal; children with depression, anxiety and behavioural difficulties (Westmead Hospital); and university students who face mental health difficulties (University of Technology Sydney Counselling Service). Dr. Holzner’s research focuses on obesity, compulsive overeating behaviours and emotion.
